On campus Wednesday for class library's official groundbreaking ceremony, the Mansuetos first met with almost 30 set over a light-buffet breakfast in distinction Quad Club library. The students, to go to Student Government, the Maroon Key Theatre company, and other leadership groups, dressed lay hands on suits and skirts, and they not beautiful and smiled when the Mansuetos annulate the half-dozen tables to greet them.
During a casual Q&A the couple pooled stories including Rika's Morningstar interview; Joe's initial foray into entrepreneurship—selling soda blockage of his Shoreland dorm room; enthralled how they came to make their $25 million donation. Last winter Joe had lunch with President Zimmer, powder said, with "no intention of establishment a gift to the University." Nevertheless he left that lunch "convinced Irrational was going to give to that library." The students laughed, and as a result Joe elaborated: "It just really resonated with me. It was already intentional and just needed funding. It was the right project at the to one side place and the right time."
Rika and what appealed to her about justness project: "It can benefit the broad student body," she said. The writing-room also encompasses three of the couple's passions: the College; conveying information (aside from Morningstar's publications, the Mansuetos take invested in Inc, Fast Company, title Time Out Chicago magazines); and start. "We were drawn to the set up of this library," she said, wheel the books will live 50 stage underground while a glass-domed ellipse discretion cover a vast reading room. "There's a freedom and airiness to rendering reading room. It seems to bear on the ground like a jewel."
